On August 30 it was officially announced that the 2013 James Beard Awards nominee announcements will be taking place in none other than Charleston, South Carolina.
Charleston is no stranger to James Beard Foundation accolades. Since 2008, three chefs, Robert Stehling of Hominy Grill, Mike Lata of FIG and Sean Brock of McCrady's and Husk have all won the prestigious Best Chef Southeast award.
Leading up to the announcements BB&T Charleston Wine + Food Festival and the Charleston Area Convention and Visitors Bureau will be hosting a Friends of James Beard Benefit fundraiser at Fort Moultrie on Sullivan's Island.
The finalist announcements will take place at historic Lowndes Grove Plantation at 11 a.m. EST on March 18. A live feed of the announcements will be available online exclusively at Eater.com.
